It’s time to go back to school...so get ready to welcome fall fashion and dump your summer clothes. But where should you start? Mary Kate Steinmiller, Senior Fashion Market Editor at Teen Vogue, believes you must start with the right bag.

She says “It’s back to the backpack,” and the ones that have “old-school zippers” are the ones you must have. What’s next? I would suggest get a pair of cool sneakers and rings. Steinmiller adds “We’ve outgrown the bracelets...For all the young girls, it’s really about rings.”

The Teen Vogue team suggests that girls can add neon laces to white sneakers to give it a pop or simply go lace-free. To give a better idea about your back-to-school fashion, 29 year old Steinmiller and her Teen Vogue team are suggesting these 5 looks for looking stylish at school-

The New Short This summer girls just could not get enough of short shorts, but this fall get ready to try out some new sizes. Steinmiller suggests that you look at street-wear type style. Her team says that this season looser and slouchier shorts will rule the scene. As the denim shorts will remain low on your hips, you will be able to wear more fitted and tailored tops. You can also wear button-down shirts or fitted varsity jackets. Steinmiller adds “Girls should feel that they can wear a longer short and still look very cool.”

Street-Style Denim Just like the new shorts this season, slouchy jeans will reign over the school this fall. Steinmiller suggest your jeans should have a “baggier, boyfriend type” look. Make sure your jeans have a distressed look and some tears around the knees. You can pair it with graphic jerseys and tops. You can complement your new sneakers with these jeans.

Into The Woods According to Mary Kate Steinmiller of Teen Vogue, the ‘Into the Woods’ look has a “classic Americana” feel and has been inspired by 2014 Tommy Hilfiger Fall Show. The main essence of this layered look is to include a thick sweater along with a plaid button-down or shearling jacket. But the best thing is you can team this look with sweatpants (yes, you can wear them to school), but only if they are stylish and have some unique elements with a clever cut and funky drawstrings. Add classic Sorel duck boots to complete the look.

Chelsea Girl Do you like to dress smart? Then this look is just for you! Wear short mod dresses teamed with dense black tights and throw in a faux-fur jacket or an oversized sweater to get the look. Steinmiller says the Chelsea Girl look is “very mod and ’60s London.” She adds that the short hemline of the mod dress is completed by the black tights. But what about the shoe? To complete this look, you can wear a flat black boot, either knee-high or ankle boots.

Field Trip The field trip look is inspired from the 2014 Miu Miu fall show. It includes a lot of amazing fabrics and pastels. To get the look, begin with classic attires, like miniskirt or raincoat, and wear them in different pastel shades like purple or pink. Now pick up surprising fabrics like brocade and suede. According to Steinmiller, you can combine the pastels and try out classic uniform pieces.
